Hello there,
HubPages has been a wild ride. I received more than 41 million views on articles while here. I’ve had the chance to connect with a large number of unique and intelligent writers.
In the future, I plan to relaunch my Medium account after backing up all of my articles over there. Medium has been changing things up a lot lately, so I want to give it another chance. I may open a couple of publications there and see what grows and follow what seems to work. So you can find me there and I have a presence on Vocal.Media, but I don’t have any plans for this site at the moment.
I have been discouraged by the way HubPages has been handled, especially the past couple of years. I blame TAG’s direction and management for the site’s downfall and not so much the changing nature of the Internet. I wish TAG was selling HubPages rather than what they’re doing, closing it and stripping it for parts.
I think there have been deceptive practices. I am concerned about how TAG will use old articles, and essentially cut you the writer out of the equation as they borrow your content, spin the articles you wrote into new creations, and even use old URLs of well performing articles. I think they’re figuring out how to make this lucrative for themselves otherwise… why wouldn’t they unplug HubPages entirely after stopping us from writing articles and no longer receiving earnings? Lots of red flags.
EDIT:
Unfortunately, I used emojis for red flags, and it deleted the second half of my post, so I’m going to try to rewrite here…
My email is AndreaLawrenceWriting@gmail.com. Please reach out to me if you want to stay in touch or would like to join the email chain where we discuss HP/TAG and the strange things we’ve noticed. We’re a grassroots effort. I may eventually write about HubPages on Medium, but I have some other wheels turning at the moment…
On the one hand, HubPages was a fantastic place that allowed me to grow as a writer and person. On the other hand, HubPages went down a dark and discouraging path that destroyed it when there were alternatives that could have helped it survive and thrive.
Thank you everyone for the conversations. Thank you for reading my work. I wish you the best into the New Year and with your future endeavors. Don’t let the negative experience from here stop you from writing and creating.
Sincerely,
Andrea
PS: Did HubPages/TAG ever respond to the recent questions in the forums about issues with the way they were closing down HP? I know there were some important questions asked. Staff replied they would compile questions and get back to us.
I bumped Genna's post. It's not all inclusive, but staff did answer the questions she posed.
Hopefully everyone will see it. A month and a half before the forums close is not long.
Thank you, Andrea. And thank you for posting this very thoughtful discussion thread.
I didn't want to post too many questions in fear of the STAFF ignoring all of them. I am also curious to learn if anyone has received answers to emails they may have sent to Team Hubpages after receving their "Important Notice" email. I haven't received any response as yet.
I haven't seen posts by HP staff answering recent questions but would love to see that.
The only STAFF answers I have seen were in response to the discussion thread I posted here around mid-November regarding the email they supposedly sent to everyone:
Discussion Thread title: Missing Information in “Important Announcement” Email from Hubpages
1. Does access to the account still enable the author to delete or remove specific HP/Discover content even though they are not able to edit said content from HP/Discover?
Yes
2. How long will the author be able edit their profile?
Until at least the end of February 2026
3. When the author no longer has access to their account, can they still request that the content be removed from HP/Discover by submitting this request via an email to Team Hubpages?
Yes
4. When the author no longer has access to their account, but still have publications published on HP/Discover, will their profiles still be published and available for readers to see?
Yes
5. How long will the forums be available for posting discussion threads?
Around mid January
Hi, Genna. It is nice to know that some of your queries have been answered by the team.
So, we have access to the Forums till mid-January. One full month.
I agree, Venka. Hope this was a little helpful. We just have to wait and see if they hold true and steady to their answers. :-)

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that HP has started the process of mining articles from Discover. The new Owlcation articles have the same title as the ones on Discover (in most cases) and the URLs are identical as well. The only difference is the beginning. For example,...

Most forum posts comment on plans outside HP, such as taking their articles from HP and developing their own websites, with no discussions about thriving or surviving on HP. I am trying to articulate what I am experiencing with HP, so bear with me. It's like disjointed information, where HP says...
