For a general subject (not seasonal) how long does it generally take google to pick up a quality hub & will it change a lot over time or once picked up stay ~about the same?
Thanks... just published heaps of hubs in the last week and wondering about how it change!
I have had hubs get indexed in as little as 13 minutes. I would guess about 2 hours is normal for a hub on hubpages as Google loves this place a lot and comes and visits like clockwork.
Once a hub or web page is in Google's index it is typically in there forever for the most part. This has nothing to do with how well it will rank though.
You can easily check each hub by typing this into Google:
for even more information.
About as long as a substandard one on average
I didn't mean to imply mine were of a better quality than any other hubs. I got the 13 minutes because of a Xomba backlink which often speeds things up a bit. Quality, while a factor that would determine if Google likes your content, wouldn't affect when he comes by next.

I find it kind of ridiculous that I have been waiting for a couple weeks now for one of my hubpages to be published. What was the longest time you have ever had it take to get a hubpage to publish?

I thought if a hubpage was listed in Google search it was featured. But apparently that is not the truth. I guess I will keep the hubs up and run my own check on them.

In his hub 'What We Don't Know About Google Panda?', Paul Edmondson points out that Google seems to expect sites to leap high above any bar that might reasonably be set for quality purposes.Paul seems less than happy...
