I asked a question of a new Hubber regarding growing wine in his part of the country and it was removed. Is this because the query concerned alcohol? Danged strict, if that's the case-but what else could it be?
Thanks.
Maybe it was perceived wrong from how you worded it lorlie6...Like: " Did you grow up whining in your part of the country?'...That's borderline..."iffy"...right there...
!
When the question "flag" is clicked, here are the options shown:
Adult - Sexually explicit content
Spam - An advertisement or an overly self-serving request
Low Quality - The question is nonsensical, calls for very short answers, or is not likely to be of general interest
Miscategorized - This request has been assigned to an inappropriate category
Other - Violates the HubPages Terms of Use in a way other than those listed above
Just taking a wild guess, I'd go with "low quality" vs it had something to do with alcohol.
Low quality? But we have so many of those types of threads. What's one more?
Hey girl!
Man I hate that when they close a thread down, or remove a question.
Good luck in finding out the why's and why nots.
wow - that's an odd one, Lorlie - I bet it was a mistake or something. did you email team@hubpages.com?
oh, and did you miss me? I feel kind of like I belong to the "banned" club now - but I was naughty. all my own fault. will never never do it again.
What on earth could a sweet little kitty like you do?
not much, but just enough, apparently! oh, it was just tewwibul! and all because I'm a liberrow! I don't wanna tawk about it no more it was so tewwibul!
Okay, mega-I've got a question for ya. You seem to be unnaturally glowing lately...any litters in your future?
mega1...I can't believe that you got banned...Welcome Back. Anything happen in Forums while you were away? (Probably not...)
I thought wine was okday but whiskey wasn't as far as adsense. I'd have to check again. But sheesh, with the sex stuff that they allow in the forums, I can't believe that they were worried about the adsense TOS.
Oh if you asked a question, perhaps they were afraid it would lead to a hub.
Okay I went back to the adsense content guidelines. Here's the whole thing -
Sites with Google ads may not include or link to:
Pornography, adult or mature content
Violent content
Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation
Excessive profanity
Hacking/cracking content
Gambling or casino-related content
Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content
Sales of beer or hard alcohol
Sales of tobacco or tobacco-related products
Sales of prescription drugs
Sales of weapons or ammunition (e.g. firearms, firearm components, fighting knives, stun guns)
Sales of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
Sales or distribution of coursework or student essays
Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites or reading emails
Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
See it says beer or hard alcohol. So I believe wine is okey dokey. So don't have a clue why your question was deleted.
Sorry for the rambling response.
Well, here it is, verbatim:
"I've heard there are some amazing wines coming out of your neck of the woods. True?"
I asked it of a new hubber who's from North Carolina. That's all.
But anyhoo-thanks, you wonderful people, for responding to this-I didn't write the HP staff...thought I'd come to a jury of my peers first-and mighty glad I did!
THAT was shut down by a mod? Please contact them and find out why. Given what I see being asked and answered in the part of HP, I can't imagine why it was.
I'd be very interested in knowing why. Please report back when you here something from HP command central.
I will, Nelle-in his bio he mentioned the vineyards there, so silly me thought it would be a welcoming sort of question. Thing is, I've got that little 'e' next to my avatar as a HubGreeter-which is actually very interesting and fun, but it seems there are some rules I don't yet know.
Command central replied promptly-and fairly, I think. I did not understand that these questions are 'public.' I thought the question would be to that specific Hubber. Apparently someone flagged it as low quality as well.
The moderator suggested I word it more specifically-North Carolina and it's wines.
Ayup. This happens all the time. That link is very misleading. Needs fixing.

When I look at the questions section of hubpages I see pages and pages of silly questions. A lot of the time, when I click on "unanswered" or "latest" I see that the same person has asked ten or so questions in a row. I suspect that in most cases this is because of the fact that...

When it was first introduced I was annoyed by it but made an effort to tweak my hubs to get them out of Idle status. Now, a whole load have got zzs against them again and many of them are hubs that at one point were very successful and even now still have scores above 70 or higher. One of the hubs...

As everyone knows (unless they have been on a mountainside in Outer Mongolia without their laptop) Google has penalized HP quite hard during their recent updates - one of the major issues is that of low quality articles/hubs on the site bringing down the site as a whole. So now HP is making many...
