Feedback on my Hubs. Desiring to be here for the longhaul

I'm in my first week of HubPages. I'm  sold on HubPages, chiefly because of the feedback I've received in becoming a better Hub writer.

These tips have me going back and adding to and taking away from my Hubs to make them better before I move on and write more. These tips have also led me to read and go through the Forums page, which led me to this forum.

Although I am still finding my niche I've experimented with a few main types of hubs; "How to" type, "Relationship advice", and "poetry". Some are just for my own enjoyment/fulfillment and the others I'm desiring to get traffic and possibly some residual income.

SO ALL THAT TO SAY: give me some feedback on my Hubs. I've made a few adjustments but am always interested in improving.

I listed my top two Hubs and one other that I really want to work and get traffic. I haven't yet begun to experiment and use backlinks yet. I am reading about that though and plan on adding that tool soon.

I've only listed three because I didn't want to come across self promoting. If I was only supposed to list one please let me know. Just learning the ropes.

    "How to" type:

    Is reading important? http://hubpages.com/hub/Books-Im-Reading-in-2011
(unfortunately I used the wrong title when I first published this. A lesson already learned)

How to begin writing interesting, award winning articles online http://hubpages.com/hub/Writing-interes … e-articles

"Relationship advice" this hub type may end up being my niche. It has the most traffic and highest hub score so far with not much effort.

An answer to marriage counseling http://hubpages.com/hub/An-answer-to-ma … counseling

The poetry type really is just for fun so if you want to give some feedback feel free.

Thanks in advance for your time and energy. I really appreciate it.

The hub about reading has a large white area at the top right, and the google ads are placed strangely or not at all.

Do you have an empty photo capsule or something in that white spot?  How many text capsules are you using?  I seem to count several, but as I say the ads are placed oddly.

@Wilderness the white box doesn't appear on my screen.

      I used 7 text boxes.

Plus a video box, and an in the news box, an RSS feed, several "graphic dividers" I made between each section, 4 content relevant pictures and finally the comment box also appears.

And now it's OK for me, too.  The ads are placed where I would have expected them as well.  Must have been a temporary glitch, maybe on my end.

The whole thing somehow looks cleaner to me now; I like the appearance.

@wilderness excellent! I was hoping it wasn't a wide spread thing. Thanks for posting and the critique.

@Wilderness - It shows up fine for me. Probably a short-lived glitch or a problem with your browser.

@Todd - Your writing is pristine, interesting and educational. You're off to a fabulous start!

On the SEO side of things, I think you need to focus on keyword research and what to do with the keywords once you've chosen them. I do think your tags need a little bit of work too. It looks to me like you're using some of those nasty little "suggested tags" that show up. I usually try to have some broad ("small dogs") and some niche ("small brown dogs with long hair") tags.

But all in all, great job.

@Irohner - thank you for the encouraging words. They mean a lot.

SEO - I was continuing my education with backlinks but Ill take your advice and get keywords and their use under my belt first. I'll dig into the learning center. If you have any specific locations or hubs that have helped you please let me know.

Thanks for your time and critique. Taken to heart every time you post.

      Much respect.
