Might be dumb question, but how do you respond to Fanmail? I went into the fanmailers profile but there was no button to send him a note

You need to follow the person and then a box will come up to allow you to leave fan mail.

Otherwise, you could use their "contact" link and send them a note via email, without signing up to be their follower. smile

Exactly. Very useful when you want to acknowledge but not follow.

The contact link will give them your email address, however.

Yeah, so. Your email address can be managed. Any email not wanted can be re-directed to a trash folder, if not needed or wanted. It's the price you pay for wanting to leave them a note. wink Why follow someone if you don't want to? hmm

I use Outlook Express, so I have no worries. I can block any email address and it's instantly sent to my trash folder without me ever seeing it. smile

I have wondered about this too.  When I have received fan mail, I have wanted to respond to it, but have not managed to work out how to do so.

Responding to fan mail is rather limited. You can send fan mail back, if you have not done so already, but you cannot keep sending fan mail back and forth. You need to use the contact link if you want to contact them more often.

There really is no requirement TO send fanmail back...

Personally, if I follow someone or leave them fanmail, it's because I am interested in what they write or their style.  I don't "expect" anything in return.  That's just me, though.

Did fan mail disappear from the site completely in the new 'account' page change ?  does it only come via email now ?  did I miss something else ??

I will talk to myself here - I found the fanmail stuff - it is amazing what you find AFTER that fist coffee - when you actually look.

    Thx for the info, but:
X sent me fan mail, I followed him, he now follows me.
I see no Contact X button on his profile.
    Now what am I missing?

Hey Peter, you might not be missing anything. Some users choose not to receive emails through their account. wink

Peter, did you want to write X a fanmail too?  After you clicked "follow X", there would be a note saying you are now following X - plus the note would be urging you to write X a fanmail.  A fanmail can only be done once.  So if you missed that note and you still want to write X a fanmail, go to X's profile page, go down the page and you will find a rectangular blank space where you can write a fanmail.  I hope this helps.
