If someone clicks an affiliate X's ebay link and the ebay cookie is activated - then leaves and comes back 5 minutes later, but comes back through Affiliate Y's ebay link...

which cookie is in effect, and which affiliate gets credit for any sales made?

Affiliate Y's cookie is in effect. Cookies get overwritten like this all of the time.

This is why coupon affiliates are so controversial. You convince a shopper to buy through your site. They go through the checkout process to the point where there is a request for a coupon code. Even if the merchant has no active coupon, many shoppers open another window, google for a coupon, visit the affiliate site, a cookie is set, and they return to the check out process.

You get no credit for the sale. This isn't ebay, but you lose all the same.

Thanks Nelle, I thought that was the way it went, - but I had never considered coupon sites as affiliates. Learned something.
