Google up $4.46 to $613.28 in midday trading... Demand Media Inc. dropped 7.8 percent.
I still don't understand the impact on Hub Pages, but the Street likes the move.
Google has also expanded the user base of chrome lately and is making another attempt into the social sphere.
Hard to pinpoint that an algo change that only 18% of the industry will even notice has anything to do with such a rise.
But the bad PR surrounding DS would encourage a drop
I consider this a key quote.
"Google has been increasingly plagued by questionable SEO practices and content farms that "harvest" their stories from other sites."
Replace the word "harvest" with the word "steal" to understand the real meaning...
HP doesn't steal. And Google knows that.
I think we will be ok.
You don't steal and I don't steal, but there are plenty of hubbers who do.
HP doesn't steal, but plenty of hubbers do. Plenty of hubbers also use promotional methods that Google doesn't like.
HP management isn't at fault, but some hubbers sure are.
the adsense newsletter that I received today has a special section on the "fault" of the host site for user generated content.
makes me go , hmmmm
I got that but haven't read it yet.. I guess I should
Hmm.. makes me go hmm because none of the links in the email work!
lol - well, because i reposted the link to twitter I read the online version
and did not notice that issue
I just went to th elink in order to share it and got this:
"The system is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please try again later."
so your non-working links are explained - the web link is at the top of the feed here in case it works later ht tp://www.facebook.com/hubsacademy
it does make you go hmmmm..
"Did you know that you are responsible for ensuring that all of your content, including user-generated content such as forum posts, blog comments or outside feeds, is in compliance with AdSense policies on any page or site for which you've enabled AdSense ads?"
Well I was wandering round the net, as you do, and got myself on Xomba and ended reading their blog. They're alright. They knew this was coming. So yah boo
For the record I'm tanking. But some of my stuff is perched at #1 now and wasn't before. It's nuts. However I'm not losing any sleep, I'm too busy trying to hold onto my voice right now, never mind my Google marbles
Moffta bed soon, I'm fine with the HP team doing what they do best - keeping the site up, running and moving forwards.
This is my far my worst day since my first weeks here.
.05 cents...... I never see lower than $1
My AdSense is actually up significantly. But it's all from my niche sites. I made a whopping $0.11 on AdSense today from HP. Lowest I've seen it since I started here.
Whoa! Probably the only time I'll every beat you out, Irohner - I'm now up to the grand total of $.60!
Still, it's double yesterday's total...
MY traffic is less than 50% of normal, oddly my adsense today is $6.52.

What is the deal with the HP blog post about optimizing Hubpages and Adsense? The was supposedly written by a Google employee (Tran) for HP writers, but the info that is in it is misleading. Yes, write unique content that is for the reader not the...

Interesting article about Google classifying Google Places as a "content farm" and the power struggle within the organization. I don't know how true it is, I just thought it was a topic worthy of interest/discussion on HP?http://techcrunch.com/2011/03/31/google … rch-index/

What would be the consequences if every 'Content Farm' (Squidoo, Hubpages, Yahoo Voices etc.) removed all Ads from their articles and de-indexed all articles.Sure we'd lose millions of views - but perhaps people wouldn't find any quality and start using Bing, Yahoo etc.Do Content Farms earn Google...

You know, when you have people like demand media paying people to crank out thousands of articles with no blood sweat and tears, and then my traffic from US google goes down the day content farms are smacked by the google algo, it makes one wonder. No one is paid here for most hubs. No one gets...

Hi, Team - We know you can't file DMCA complaints on behalf of our work, but would it be possible to alert Hubbers when major scrapers are found in various categories, so we can all individually check for our content? For example - there were probably many more Hubbers affected by the 'Dan Gordon'...
