I have a job of leaving comments of Blogs, the blogs comments must allow for website, name and email to be left there. I want to know the purpose of this. Will that increase traffic to the persons website?
Each time you leave a comment with their url, you are creating a backlink for them.
Edit: sorry should expand on that. Google judges how good a site is by the number of external backlinks pointing to it, so rather than wait for people to come along and say "Oh what an excellent site! I must add a link to my blog about it", it is common practice for many webmasters to self-promote their own sites.
Unfortunately, as everyone is doing it, you do too in order not be left behind.
