A lot of people fear 2012 as being the end of the world. I think 2012 is going to play a signficant role in the rest of everyone of our lives. I think a lot of people will die but do not feel it will be the end. We as humans have been knocked down and shoved around and even brought down to less than 10,000 as an entire population on multiple occasions. We have like cockroaches, strong and hard to get rid of. How do you guys feel about it all though?

" I think 2012 is going to play a signficant role in the rest of everyone of our lives." Well I for one hope my hub on 'how to survive the end of time' gets millions of reads and I sell about 100,000 emergency kits - I'll be very happy!

Personally I think the whole thing is media driven - a lot of people are making a lot of money because of the fear this theme generates. I suspect it'll be a little like the y2k 'disaster' - do you know how many IT millionaires were made because of this pending disaster?

I did not think about how many people got rich off of the theory of Y2K. I do not feel this is anything like it as I did not even believe in Y2K it made no since to me how that would kill us. 2012 has many things linked to it I never mentioned 12-12-12 I feel that date is made up just to give it a date. For me I feel with our "force field" being weak, extra strong electric waves, and many disaster it will cause. Not to mention the possibility of a huge object entering our orbit that could cause death to all of us. No one will say for certain it is out there but through my research I honestly think it will be here soon.

The 12-12-12 thing makes me feel really excited of the 11-11-11 coming up soon! This time I must be cautious and see whether I feel anything different about that day....Chances are it'll be like any other boring day - but still! tongue

This whole thing started because the Myan long count calendar ends on 12/21/2012.  Som people interperet it to mean the end of time, but it's just the end of the calendar as far as I know.

Might be wise to save a few bucks for 12/22/2012.

Jcmayer - The Mayan calendar is just like a clock. It spins around and around and around there is never an end to the calendar, it just simply restarts much like ours does. Some one turned this into the end although every calendar has its end. When January 1st every year would be the end of the world in our calendar but that is not the case it is simply the end of the year. There was the end of their year which is not anything the same as your 365 day year.

I know you didn't bring up 12/21/12 - I was just using it to explain what I thought started up a lot of the talk on the year.

The debate of the Maya Calendar aside, I'm sure I've read most the same info as you.
        Sun flares
        I Ching Book of Change
Super Volcano formation in Yellow Stone
        Pending polar shifts

It's all pretty fascinating, but I just don't think it's something to spend time worrying about.  At pretty much all points in time, "the end is near" has been a popular saying and we're still all here.

The threat of an asteroid or other object crashing into the earth has always been there.  In fact, the earth is pelted with mini-debris daily.  The risk is no greater today than it was yesterday or five thousand years ago as far as I know.

The other problem is researching online.  Much of what we read is put out by bloggers.  I can write a blog for profit stating Joe Snitzky the scientist discovered a secret ancient civilization that also predicted the end of time in 2012, but that wouldn't make it true.  Plus, many bloggers do their research based on other bloggers writing online, in hopes of ranking higher.  Statistics and facts get a little bit more skewed each time, typically unintentionally, making it almost impossible to get straight up facts.  Not a knock on bloggers - I am one myself - just stating that I know it happens.

I am with you on this - it is fascinating and some of the actual scientific data is quite alarming (for me, especially the talk of polor shifts) and it's easy to feel there could be something to it.  Maybe there is.  We won't know for sure until 2013.

2012 - The End Is Coming?

It just goes to show how gullible people are with regards to their own life. They choose to be ignorant and it's sad.

      Cagsil - Can you elaborate?

        Elaborate?

What exactly would you like me to elaborate on? My statement was worded precisely, for understanding.

    Nspeelposted 13 years ago

Cagsil - I am not sure if that meant you think nothing is going to happen and people are gullible or if you meant shit is going down and people are stupid in regards to there own lives.

    1. Cagsil profile image72
Cagsilposted 13 years agoin reply to this

      Nothing is going to happen.
      Too many are.
Things in this world are getting worse, not better, but the underlying cause is because too many people simply do not understand their own life, not because they are stupid, but because they choose to be ignorant.

Edit: I've written a hub that details why "World Peace" isn't happening. It was written to wake up people to the fact that they are being controlled, even if they do not know it and answers who is actually manipulating them.

Thanks, Cagsil. It would be helpful if you gave us a link to that hub you're talking about. smile

Cagsil - I must read that. Although i do agree the whole world is being mind controlled although no one wants to think about it like that. Also I do not know if it ever crossed you mind by they are starting to keep track of everyone even the poor. Giving away phones to people on food stamps come on, ridiculous. Media and many other things control us into believe lies and deception but why are they not talking about 2012? why aren't they blowing it up trying to make themselves rich? These are things I think they are not allowed to discuss because the governments are not ready to come out yet.

    heres a thought,....

perhaps the mayan calendar ends on dec 21 2012 because they got just a weeeee bit busy with some new house guests who arived in the form of gold hungry spaniards,.... lovely little guests who bring house warming presants such as measles and smallpox,...

    just sayin',....

sorry they couldnt get back to the math in order to work out another 400+ years,.... but hey,.... dying off as an entire civilzation,... its time consuming.

    just sayin'
