I am in need of money so have decided to start doing Ghostwriting for others. I have tried Elance, Odesk etc with no success and finding clients remains a challenge. I am also concerned about what writing samples I should show them. Hubpages is the only place I have articles and its difficult to select a best few from 300 odd articles. Any suggestion and help would be highly appreciated.

You're too good of a writer to make something like "1 cent per word, free revisions until you're happy" like what you'd have to deal with on elance. oDesk is slightly better, but you end up spending more time applying for jobs than working... if you want to do oDesk, do hourly ONLY. Chances of getting ripped off via contractual pay are high.

I recently did ghostwriting work for another hubber who paid me three cents a word to write. I had to quit recently so that I could complete schoolwork, work work, and write more hubs. This person might have a job for you. I don't want to publicly "out" this person, so I will ask this person if they need another writer if you're interested in this kind of pay. It's not a ton of money, but it can help you get by when you're in between contracts.

            Let me know.

As far as selecting content to showcase, why not go with the HubPages own system that selects "Hot" and "Best". You may not always feel that's your best work, but if you have trouble deciding what your best work is, why not trust the readers input + HubPages article rating mechanism?
