I am really new and I am confused with so many ways to gain traffic. Can I know how I can set up a foundation for my hubs traffic?
Hello and welcome to hubpages as a newbie. I know you will certainly enjoy your experience writing within this great community. First of all if you are fairly new, than it will really help to answer your questions, by first reading carefully through the FAQ's section of hubpages. Also look at the learning section as well. If you haven't signed up for Google Adsense or Hubpages AD program, do so now, these avenues will also help you to gain traffic, especially google. And you will eventually learn to backlink your articles to other sites, SEO's etc...I hope this bit of information is not too confusing and helps you out. In the meantime good luck to you and Happy Hubbing!

"these avenues will also help you to gain traffic" I'm sorry but this statement is false. Adsense and Hubpages will not help you get traffic. They are just programs that pay you for your traffic.
The foundations for setting up hub traffic is Off Site and On Site SEO. Once you have implementid your SEO tactics, you can use Social Networks such as Google Plus, Facebook, Twitter, Blog Carnival, Digg, and Reddit to market your wok.
Thanks to both of you for the sound advice. I will implement it as soon as possible.
My advice is to write hubs, read the forums and enjoy being here. Concentrate on quality and the money will follow.
Read some of the guide hubs by people such as:
Susana S
Darkside
Ryankett
Wrylilt
Plus, check out some of the hubs written by users in this category: http://hubpages.com/topics/hubpages-tut … unity/2848
Just do one thing....... whenever, you encountered something worth writing then Co check that in Google Adwords Tool about the competitions....... Also check for alternative options..... write for that.... don't go for backlinking... you will be star.......
I hope you're aware that the competition bar is for advertisers, not publishers. It gives no indication how hard it will be to compete for that keyword in the SERPs.

hi, back linking is your answer , I’m new as well , my traffic started to go down and all those blue triangles popped up , I’ve tried the back links and I’ve seen the difference in just few hours ,even 2 hubs had there blue triangle turns to red , so look up for good book marking sites , good luck
I don't think we're allowed to self promote in the forums - or I'd show you one hub of mine that would be useful. I'm not the article marketing go to guy for info on that though.
I'd study:
Sunforged
Susana S
WryLit
.....and the others that I'm too brain dead to think of at the moment...
RyanKett is another.
I think that Glenn Stok has some useful hubs also. But once you go to any of these and look at one of their hubs on this issue, there will be many more hubs listed on the right side of the screen to give you more thatn you know what to do with. It all takes time.
