Which is better and more profitable: to have one account in HP or have and link several accounts and write hubs here and there?
Depends how much time you would like to reach the payout. More the accounts, more the payout time if you are using HubPages Ad program.
In terms of SEO, having niche blogs is always better. But if you are going to post on varied topics better to stick with one account.
I have several different accounts or profiles on Hubpages. It seems there are basically two reasons to use that many. First, if you write a large number of hubs, it gets extremely difficult to manage them. So having several accounts helps you to write on one or several different topics without losing track of them all.
Second, using different accounts to experiment on a variety of things is a good strategy, using each account for different purposes. For example, you may want to try using specific keywords in one account across several different topics.
If you do that on one account with numerous topics, it gets hard to extract the data to see how successful your experiment has been. At least for me it is.
As far as linking, if you mean linking across several accounts to generate traffic and build up page rank, that would only be helpful if you have related content and a super hub that generates a lot of traffic.

Why do some people have more than one account?I've noticed that several people have more than one account. I was wondering what the reason for this would be. Why would you need a second account?
