How to work Facebook

Updated on December 23, 2009

There are many basics to Facebook that you have to learn, but from then on you can use the site because it is self-explanatory. First of all you need to sign up by following this link. Once you have joined up here are the basics.

There are many interfaces and sections of facebook. The first thing that you should do is edit your profile and your information. This is simple, go to the 'Profile' button at the top of that page and then click on 'info'. Here you can fill in your information such as your mobile number and your interests.

Once you have completed your profile the next step is to add friends. Simply type their name into the search box at the top right of the page. When the search results come up it should be pretty easy to find the person that you are looking for, working on the basis that they have facebook. The click 'add as friend', this will send them a request asking them if they want to accept you as a friend. Once they have accepted you, you have access to all their photos, notes and talk to them etc.

Now it is time to add your photos to your page. Click on the photo icon at the tool bar at the bottom of the screen, the follow the instructions which are self-explanatory. This requires facebook to access the photos on your computer and you can select which photos to put online. You can tag your friends on facebook in your photos, and if you desire you can delete the photo whenever you want.

To chat to someone there is a section on the toolbar at the bottom of your screen. Click on 'Online Friends (...)', a list will then appear showing all your online friends and from there you just click on the friend and you can chat to them. You can create friend lists by 'list options' on the top of the chat menu and then going on from there.

From here on in it is easy to work the site, if you have any questions or comments please just leave a comment. Thanks,

John Jackson
