   The Katana is a Samurai blade.  Their were other blades used by Samurai before the Katana gained popularity but for all modern purposes they are one and the same.

   The Katana is a very strong and sharp traditional Japanese sword. Both the Samurai and the Ninja depended on the Katana as their primary weapon.
   
   The difference between Samurai and Ninja Katanas is that Ninja Katanas were shorter and straighter than their Samurai counterparts for practicality as the Ninja often had to hide their weapons or remain unnoticed in the enemy territory.
