Is Experience the best form of any education?

Can a 25 year old (highly talented) chartered accountant equal to a mediocre (but highly experienced) chartered accountant? I am asking this question because I recently applied for an internship at KPMG, and this was the first (non-academic) question that was asked by the interviewer.
