I was truly expecting more winter but here in the South, the weather has reached 80 degrees in February! However, the skeptics will tell you there is no such thing as "Global Warming." I am just wondering why it is that its so warm here in the South and people are wearing shorts, flowers are trying to bloom and some people have had to use their air conditioners?
Perhaps the Ground Hog only saw his shadow for the North?
We have had the same in Virginia. It is by far the warmest in the 15 years I have lived here.
NASA and the NOAA reported that last year was the warmest on record for the planet. Many extremists of course claimed they were lying.
This January was the third warmest in 137 years of record keeping.
Fortunately, the Trump administration has promised to kill the EPA, climate change research and the international climate change agreement.
https://climate.nasa.gov/news/2550/janu … on-record/
Coincidentally, Trump just announced his proposed budget for 2018. It calls for a massive increase in military spending and major cuts in non-defense programs. It especially targets the EPA among others:
"Multiple officials have also made clear over the last 48 hours that the Environmental Protection Agency and foreign aid will be cut significantly under the new plan." - CNN
Strange that he wants to increase a military budget that is 7X larger than the next largest on the planet ...
"WeatherAction is involved in the Global Warming/Climate Change debate
where we point out that the world is now cooling not warming and there is no observational evidence in the thousands and millions of years of data that changes in CO2 have any observable effect on weather or climate in the real world.
There are no scientists in the world who can produce such observational data and we challenge anyone reading this to send us such observational evidence from the real world or find someone who can and get them to produce it. There is only effect the other way, namely that ocean temperatures control average CO2 levels due to basic laws of physics about the soluability of CO2 gas in (sea) water. Boris Johnson, the (then) Mayor of London has expressed interest in what we say: see article
Thank you, Piers Corbyn, MSc (astrophysics), ARCS, FRAS, FRMetS

The "world may be cooling" but the South didn't get the memo ...
Looks like March is going to be an interesting month. Finally, the South is getting a glimpse of Winter!

I'm confused. I've read and heard arguments that global warming is really just part of a natural temperature change process for the earth. I've also read that it's completely man-made? Is it one or both of these? Please explain.

The earth is so huge. And people are so small. Are we really contributing to the build-up of C02 in the upper atmosphere(s) by:1. Burning fossil fuels, 2. Cutting down forests 3. Farming livestock.https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2021/ … l-warming/"Fossil fuels produce large quantities...

As an American, perhaps as a person on the planet today, it's very difficult to stay informed. If one makes the mistake of turning on the TV to watch the News, one realizes they're wasting their time soon enough. American "news" really is designed to entertain, not to inform and empower,...

If you have been watching the Weather Channel or your local weather station; you will realize that some of us have been experiencing phenomenal weather conditions. I heard that the wind chill factor in one city was 74- which is basically unheard of in the lower 48 states. It seems as if every...

From CNN -London, England (CNN) -- An independent report released Wednesday into the leaked "Climategate" e-mails found no evidence to question the "rigor and honesty" of scientists involved. The scandal fueled skepticism about the case for global warming just weeks before world...

About 97% of all scientists accept a simple fact: Human activity on the planet Earth is contributing to global climate change. And as NOAA's National Climatic Data Center indicates: "It is worth noting that increasing global temperature is only one element of observed global climate change....
