What is the best way to get state law wording changed?
Two things come to mind immediately.
One, have a legally trained person prepare a legal opinion detailing any unfortunate consequences of the present wording, preferably also suggesting better alternatives.
Two, send a copy of this legal opinion to your State congressman or congresswoman, along with a cover letter requesting assistance. Follow up with phone calls, emails etc. as needed.
If steps 1 and 2 do not produce action within a reasonable period of time, consider sending copies of the legal opinion to other State lawmakers, the local media, and other influential groups and individuals within the area.
By following this procedure, you will have established a solid track record as well as showing your sincereness.

Human nature is at the root of the problem. Humans tend to look out for their own. They tend to put their heads in the sand. They tend to be idealistic. They tend to trust those in power. They tend to be pessimistic. They tend to be confused and easily misled.(If you are a human, I am sorry to be so...
