Explain the literally meaning of a "Blue Moon", if you can?
There may be many other, pop culture, meanings, but in astronomy, the blue moon is the second full moon that occurs within the same month. Thirteen full moons happen every year (so some month on a rotating basis will have two) and some businesses base their fiscal years on 28-day financial periods instead of 28-to-31-day months.
Just as what Ms Patty Inglish has said, it's the second full moon in the very same month.
It was coined "blue" because on a clear night sky, it appears "blue" as this 2nd showing of the moon is the brightest, roundest, and most beautiful showing of the month. Not all months have full moon showing twice.
For those who have extra-spiritual beliefs, the blue moon or the 2nd full moon is the most powerful and the most auspicious time to engage in rituals or spells.
Theres a good hub about this already just check blue moon.
