Do you know of a good program to help kids with learning problems learn to spell?
Yes, I do. The Montessori method of learning. Teaches the child to sound out each individual letter phonetically using the phonetic alphabet. The child then begins to "word build." build the sounds of the letters one by one together to pronounce the word he has built. He has now learned to spell and can compose sentences on his own. Hope this helps. Lanea
Phonics is the best way for learning troubled kids. What Lanea says is correct, that Montessori schools use phonetic spelling. However, you also need to know what problem your child is having specifically. If the problem is Dyslexia or Dysgraphia, phonics will help, but other interventions may be needed as well.
