No. Don't be afraid. People are just becoming more cosmic conscious. We are going into a higher state of consciousness. There will always be world disasters but we will be around to leave the earth someday, and travel the stars in capsules to visit/vocation on other planets.

The Earth will be here and so will people until we can get off this planet and by that time we will be more than ready to venture onward.

    Cheers!

I dont think no one can predict when the end of the world is going to happen. Scientists say something will happen in 2012. BUT then again, they said something was going to happen in 2000

goddddd  No ....thts just a myth ...its also a tactic to scare people because they use non conventional sources of energy like coal ,petroleum, firewood etc carelessly which will later cause global warming and greenhouse effect.

As for some people its just a prophecy at said that the world is gonna be over on 2012 .... CHILL !! n LIVE LYF KING SIZE !!

I agree that the world will not end in 2012. I have asked this question to people in my neighborhood and they all bring up the deal that happened in the year 2000, but this was just about computers being able to roll over the year which was just a money gimmick for people to, in a panic, run out and buy upgrades or other kind of software to advert the problem that was never really there.

However the 2012 proclamation doe's have a good history following it with all the predicted incidents that has already came true listed in the Mayan calender. But the discrepancy fall before the philosophers, and the science communities who can not make up their mind on how it will come to pass.

Will it be the end of man kind? NO! because the bible assures us that it can not be by stating that no man will know the time nor the hour that the end time will come.

Will it kill off allot of people? Who knows, but it could very well kill a quarter to at least half the population on earth depending on what it is that comes our way. but I won't worry about it because if it is something that big and the fact we still don't know how it is to come about therefor we will not have the time to prepare for it.

In any case there is a chance that this will be just a bunch of hype, in hopes people will go for broke and spend there life savings to save their lives on something that never comes to pass.

welp gotta go and may the force be with you.

    Muhahaha!

I only have love for my fellow hubbers.

    Peace out: W. Vierra

Maybe. But not because of some ancient calendar that is misunderstood and misinterpreted. It's very interesting that many people have heard about the end of the world through various religions. Even the Bible talks about the end of the world - as we know it. But it also says that the Earth will endure forever. So the "world" the Bible talks about is the system of human governments and the current human society.

But an interesting point that many miss is that when Jesus himself talked about the end, he said it would come "at an hour that you don't expect it." So the current popular buzz about 2012 is a pretty good indication that it ISN'T the end. Because that's when everyone expects it.

It has been "THE END OF THE WORLD" a few thousand times since man evolved into this so called "intelligent" creature. This is just another attempt to scare the crap out of us. I guess I should also believe in Niburu, and a million other theories of Armageddon, 2012 will come and go, and NOTHING will have happened.
