There can be, though a lot depends on whether or not you have to pay to lease space for your hives (many farmers will pay you to put hives on their property), and what kind of growing season you have, which will determine how long you have to feed them before they can feed themselves. As with any business, you'll also need to establish a good customer base so that you can be sure that you can sell all the honey you get at a decent market price. We ran our business solely within the family, had dated but cheap and fairly efficient equipment, learned to make a lot of what we needed ourselves, and sold our honey both raw in bulk and at the local Farmer's Market. It was a relatively small business (20-30 hives), but we did make a nice little bit of profit off of it.
