This is impossible to answer. Printing led to a media revolution in which people could much more easily share ideas. As people communicated through the printed word, it helped to trigger an accelerated rate of human innovation that continues to this day. Some would argue that the internet has just begun the process of doing the same thing on a greatly accelerated scale. We shall see.
