I am seriously considering this career, but is the salary enough to live off of by yourself?
also, what is a better job place the hospital or at a funeral home? I was also looking into forensics, but I am not exactly sure. My parents think Im strange for wanting to go into this career, but I think it would be interesting. Any advice as to how i can start? Im only a junior in high school.
A job in a hospital would be great and well payed, you could do a biomedical degree to get that.
A job in forensics is only for a certain group of people, if you love investigation and problem solving and dont mind being repetitive all the time then you'll love forensics.
To get into forensics either do a forensics degree, or try do a double/joint honours in Biology and Chemistry as in forensics you'll have Biology based labs and Chemistry based labs.
If you're going to do a forensics degree please make sure this is what you actually want to do. It is a specialised degree so you are slightly stuck in that area.
Again if you do a joint honours or a joint degree majoring in both biology and chemistry your options will be WIDE open.
I did a joint honours in Bio and Chem and it has left my options open to doing a tonne of different science related jobs.
At you age i don't think you have to worry about that now, see what subjects you like at school first, and then keep think would you like to study these in college. They dont have to be the subjects you're the best at, but just the ones you like the most.
Best of luck!
