What is your worst typhoon-related experience?

My worst experience was 2 years ago when typhoon Ondoy hit Metro Manila. It flooded most streets, and in some places, houses where entirely submerged by the flood, leaving only rooftops where residents stayed and waited for rescue. I was lucky because I live in a condominium, but my office was submerged in knee-deep flood. We didn't have electricity for more than 3 days, and no water supply for almost a week. My pet fish almost died. I had a terrible cough that time and it got even worse.

I was staying in a small village in Vanuatu when a cyclone hit. We had time to shelter but we were boarded up in a very small bunker . The worst part was hearing all the racket outside and not being able to see what was happenning. When it was all over and it was safe to come out, it looked as if  somebody had gone through and chopped down every tree in site, then as if they had collected heaps of building materials and dumped them all over the place.
What I liked was the most amazingly huge snails that appeared after all the rain.  They were ginormous

    Hi cheerfulnuts,

Thankfully we don't get typhoons in Scotland. The worst hurricane I remember was when I was just a kid. It was the noise of trees, roofs and anything else getting ripped up or ripped off that terrified me at the time.
