What is it about human nature that causes people to mistake kindness for weakness?
I think our society sometimes pushes the "what's in it for me" attitude to an extreme. For example, how poor people are demonized so much these days. People get so caught up in their own ambitions that they forget or don't feel that deep connection with others. When someone struggles the first instinct is to blame that person - rather than reach out and try to help them better themselves. The media feeds a lot of fears that I think lead to this mentality as well.
I believe kindness is far from weakness. It's easy to be "all about me" or to judge others etc. - it's tougher to put another person ahead of ourselves. It's too bad we don't always see that in fact, it takes a stronger person to be genuinely kind.
