What causes random thoughts? How do you think we can get rid of them?
Why would you want to get rid of random thoughts? That's how intellectual discovery is made! (Also how you remember to get your gutters cleaned every so often.)
Our mind is always racing and many things in daily life can trigger random thoughts, but I do not think they can be rid of. The human can intentionally access information from his mind, but he can not turn it off, and sometimes random information will pop up on its own.
I agree with Brainy Bunny. Don't try to get ride of them. Carry a notebook and write them down. They are a way that our subconscious mind lets us know that there are things that need our attention.
