Do men and women find different things funny?
While working on my first master's degree I worked with a group to study the perceptions men and women had of humor. We went to comedy clubs and had the attendees rate the comedians on a number of things, and we found that men had a higher appreciation for what all attendees deemed blue comedy and women seemed more in favor of more clean comedy shows. I don't have the paper that resulted in front of me, but I've always thought it was interesting and felt there may be something more we could have done with that study. I'm curious what your thoughts are.
Everyone has a different idea of what's funny. Maybe more women like cleaner comedy than men, but that doesn't mean there aren't men that don't like it. I'm sure it's true for the average but not every body.
Most of the time me and my husband thinks the same things funny. But one time he came home and told a joke with voices and body language that his co-workers told him, and it was so Raunchy I sat there shocked and said " that's not one bit funny."
He just laughed either at me being offended or at hisself.
So your study is right on I think.
