What criminal liability will be given to a person who stole goods from a store?
A father who took away rice and other can foods to a sari sari store without paying it because he has no money to pay. A man will do everything to feed his family either in good ways or in bad ways. Do you think he is liable of robbery because he stole goods in order to save his family from a starvation? By the way I am a former secretary of a law firm, just asking if the law here in the Philippines can be applied in the law of your country. And if so, what particular punishment will be applied to said person? Thank you!
In the United States the laws differ from state to state, city to city and town to town. I know where I live if you take someone without paying for it that is considered shoplifting or robbery depending on the value of the item. If you are caught shoplifting it's up to the store management on how they want to proceed. You can either be given a warning, banned from the store or arrested.
