Is there a teacher who had a lasting influence on you?

I know that the question is not new, but I am always fascinated by stories about teachers who inspired--or left lasting damage.
How did a teacher have a asting impact on your life?

My fifth grade teacher, Mr. Wasinger, was the best teacher I ever had! And that is saying a lot since I attended more than 30 schools as a child. He made learning fun and exciting and could get even the worst student in class to want to be there learning. He instilled in me a love of writing and teaching. Because of him, i now do both.

Thank you! Did you ever have a chance to tell him that? Do you remember anything specific that he did to make learning fun or to instill a love of reading or writing?

I did have the chance to tell him how I felt - when my daughters started school and I was in college to become a teacher - he was the principal at their school. It brought him to tears. I wrote a hub about him -there's not enough room here...

It's wonderful that you could share it with him.
