Thick layers of clouds blot out sunlight and also the heavy moisture content in the clouds' make- up create these effects. Clouds can be very high in the sky or lower to the ground and cause many unusual visual perceptions. Darker clouds indicate heavy moisture content and lighter more fluffy clouds less moisture. The study of clouds and their meanings can be very interesting as to how they pertain to approaching weather fronts.
