Why is art important?
Or is it? We can't survive without air, water, food. But art? What is it good for?
Well isn't this a provocative question! Assuming you could actually define 'art' then it might be easier to answer. But there are a couple of points. People let out their heart, their soul, their creativity and create something other people wonder and think about. Maybe they find something and create a different art to express their feelings and so on and on.
