Is it possible for California to slide off the map..
Is it possible for California to slide off the map if there was a powerful enough earthquake. Also how vulnerable would the coast of California be if a tsunami occurred?
I heard, for many years, that if a really powerful earthquake strike in just the right spot that parts of California will slide right off into the ocean. Of course, no one really knows.
California is sliding up the coast of North America very, very slowly. It's not going to sink into the ocean. That would not be possible since California is part of a land mass held up by the ocean floor.
