If you heard a nationwide natural disaster were about to occur, how would you prepare?

    Hello Sweetiepie:

Depending on the type of disaster approaching,...Hurricane for example. I would definitely seek shelter far away from the low lying bays and other bodies of water. Make sure my family is safe and high and dry.

That would be Plan A and my first step.  Also would make sure I gathered and had all of the essentials handy...Batteries, flashlights, plenty of fresh drinking water and if I could afford it at the time and they were in stock, would definitely consider a generator to run things like the furnace and frig.

Depending on how long we would be out of power, this would be a great addition to the emergency prep list. Also a good first aid kit wouldn't hurt either.  In case something, or somebody goes bump in the night.    By the way good question and one that everyone should think about more seriously, especially after the Hurricane Sandy aftermath.

I already have prepared by buying collapsable 5 gallon water jugs and filling them up, stocking up on nonperishable food items that will last me a week and don't need to be cooked. I have three survival backpacks that are fully stocked with food, lighters, fire starting kits, medicine and first aid kits, warm clothes, maps compasses, etc., one n the car and two in the house.

Depending on the disaster such as the New Madrid Fault Zone adjusting which is overdue will depend on my response.

As the extreme weather increases along with large earthquakes (which have almost tripled in the last ten years) this nationwide natural disaster WILL happen it is just a matter of time.
