What subject do you wish you had paid more attention to in school?
Mine was history, I know that I learned a lot, but there was so much more fun knowledge I thought I was "too cool" for back then...
i'd have to say math because for the life of me i still haven't figured out, unless i became an architect or math teacher, why i would need geometry. and trig. math should come with prerequisites of NASA 101. "Unless entering the space program, you will not need to proceed further in this line of study."
I could have done much better in English/Literature. I never realized I missed a great deal of what I should have easily remembered. History is another one I am more interested in now than I was then.
I realize that there must be subjects that we may have been negligent in not paying enough attention to, yet usually kids in our schools are stronger in some subjects than in others, such as math, English Literature, History, and others. We usually gravitate toward what we are best at, or enjoy most, and distance ourselves more from harder to understand subjects. Mine was math. I passed, yet did not do as well as I had wished. I did go on to college and did pretty well. Thanks for the nice question. whonu
I really wish that I had taken more notice of chemistry and science. Back then I was bullied pretty badly and just did my best to get through the school day in one piece. But looking back I would love to have gone on to study the sciences at college, and perhaps even chosen a job in that field. My perfect job would have been quantum physics as it fascinates me, whether I would have had the brains or been adept enough is something I don't know, but I would love to have figured it out for myself.
I am so sorry to hear that you were bullied, that is something that no one should ever have to endure especially in a school setting! There’s always time to learn again if those subject really interest you!
Thanks khmazz, perhaps not learning from scratch but maybe an evening class, thanks
Math was my problem because it was taught in such an abstract way, once you got pass the basics, that I could see little use for it. Today, I would not know what to do with a sine, cosine or logarithm. However, I can balance a budget, multiply and divide fairly large numbers in my head and keep up with most accountants when they try to explain something to me.
Chemistry and physics also gave me problems, again because of the abstract nature of the courses.
when i was young, i wished i had paid more attention to science and maths. In today's education syllabus, English, maths and science are equally important.
spanish without a doubt, now i am old and need it and it is very difficult for me
i think i should have paid more attention to maths and later in science on physics part. But back in school this both subjects was taught in very boring manner and after various attempts also i was not able to pay attention to both.
