What is your definition of a Progressive?

Emanating from Washington DC are all sorts of descriptions of our elected representatives.  Conservative, Progressive, Liberal, Socialist.  Then there are Lobbyists, Neo-cons, Patriots, to name just a few.  I would be interested in knowing what these titles portray to you.

These titles and labels serve to cause division and argument honestly.  Both parties that are in the congress are pretty useless and as long as we are arguing with one another about our various labels etc. they continue to get away with it.

It is pushed down our throats that conservatives and liberals cant' get along blah blah blah.  I vehemently disagree with many conservatives that I dearly love and still respect smile

Progressive to me means someone who wants to make progress, to make positive changes going forward.  I think in many ways most humans are "progressive" what person in their life really wants to go backwards? or refuse to ever change?

You add politics to that word though and certain groups bristle and get defensive wink  and that's just how the establishment likes it!  Keep us fighting amongst ourselves and we won't band together to make any genuine "progress"

Yes you are so right ChristineS. The divisiveness makes me so unhappy, especially as I have dear friends in all categories.  The only thing I can resort to is avoid a political subject because a philosophical discussion is impossible
