World peace is hailed when no governments or groups are at war.
Up until the Gulf War we came very close indeed, closer than ever before. Just before the Gulf problem we have some nasties in Afghanistan and Belfast but that was it. Today we have problems with militant groups in the M East and harsh tensions in Korea. All in all, not bad in the scale of time, indicating the world is once again close to total world peace.
Readers should not get to uptight about how the world looks today. Look back 50-100 years and you see world war 1 & 2, Vietnam, and the Middle East. Turn it back more than 200 years and feces hits the fan ! Every one was at war with every one. The Europeans conquering any nation their boats would take them, killing and enslaving locals. Have a look at Rome and Napoleon. And of course the Middle East is still at it way back then.
We have come an awful long way since then, and in contrast we are now living heaven on earth.
I got so exited over this question I wrote a hub on it. Please see http://quescout.hubpages.com/hub/Heaven … his-is-Why

I think we could use more peace and understanding, less tolerating of governments, political and religious extremists and news media pushing us farther apart. I am suggesting a peace ring where people from around the world do a hub on peace and link together. To join this Hubs across the...

I can't argue with your keys to happiness., well said. lol. To begin with I'm not a spiritual person or a religious person. If I had to choose a spiritual world or a religious world, I would much rather be chillin on some mountain top than looking for someone to hate, just to feel good about...
