What are the ways that children are influenced and thus affected by their position in their

    respective school pecking order?
School is just a microcosm of adult society.  As society has different pecking orders, school has its respective pecking order.  Some are more high status than others.  Each pecking order has its rules.  The higher the pecking order, the more stringent the rules are.

How about this?  They are influenced into believing that a pecking order is normal societal behavior instead of showing proper respect and care for other humans as just that, other humans trying to live a nice life on planet Earth just like they are- or were, until they got introduced to the "pecking order."
So, with their being placed somewhere in that order, children learn to perpetuate the idea when they grow up, are limited by what their "place" in the order demands, and do not know true freedom in life (until perhaps they grow up and get wise to it all, and start somewhat digging out from under it all.)
Those are some things that come to my mind right away.
