Ran and got away
With no physical proof of The merchandise can a court convict?
Today I was observed putting some items into my pocket. Not sure if I was on Camara or not but when I was leaving the store, a floor walker behind me said "sir" and I bolted
I was not caught (as of yet) and kept the stuff I was stealing on me
I did get away. He did not chase me nor did I look back.
My question is if I was not caught with the merchandise. And I ran away does the store have a case against me? The estimated amount of merchandise is $350
If you can be identified in court either by witness or video, and if you can be tracked and arrested to face charges, you should and will be prosecuted, probably convicted. Shoplifting is a huge problem for retailers, so they are aggressive in combating it. You do not get your stuff for free, either; the loss is transferred to the rest of us in the form of higher prices, and so I will applaud law enforcement for giving you what you deserve. May you learn a lesson from it; if you do not, long may your sorry carcass rot in jail so you can thieve no more as long as you are locked away.
