    Your question is a double-edged sword, my friend.

    In short: yes.

    In reality: no.

    String Theory is designed to be the ultimate, best, most comprehensive, complete, (and whatever else), theory for the unification of the forces and laws and explaining the nature of reality. The problem is, it's just a construction, albeit a beautiful one, of mathematics. While the past has shown us that the math tends to be right in most cases, there still is no evidence supporting String Theory, or even a postulated idea for proving the concept.

    So yes, it is really the answer to everything and all the questions, because that's what it's designed to be. The problem is, we don't know what everything is yet, or what all the questions are. So the search continues!

    As Michio Kaku says, "String Theory is the only game in town." There are no other existing frameworks with the potential to unify all of the forces and matter in the universe. That said, it may be wrong. There are certain theoretical predictions made by String Theory that physicists hope to see in the coming years at the LHC. If String Theory is correct, we would expect to see evidence of supersymmetry, extra dimensions and micro black holes, for starters. If none of these are observed, it will probably be time to give up on strings- as elegant and compelling as the theory is. As Richard Feynnman said, "... If it disagrees with experiment, it's WRONG."
