Perhaps the ability to fly under the radar can be used to a plain girl's advantage and perhaps having some other people's lowered expectations (related to looks and all assumptions arising from looks) could also be used to a plain girls advantage. A beautiful standout is always expected to be a beautiful standout and they are very likely to be given a variety of passes, perks, and opportunities in life solely on looks until their looks fade or their personality negates their appearance. However, I have seen plain looking girls use their other highly valued attributes (such as brains, creativity, charm, manners, connections, etc.) to earn what they want in life and their careers.

Usually brains, spunk, fun, and an ability to take life as it comes, no matter the odds. I think naturally bombshell women kind of tend to coast through life..... until they get saggy, droopy, and age. Then they are screwed, while the rest of us (?) have long since depended on our personalities and knowledge to get by.

I imagine "plain women" are less fearful about the aging process.
They are more comfortable in their skin because they've never had to rely on their looks to get the things they wanted out of life.
Most likely they paid their own way through life such as focused on education, developing a career, and not expecting men to rescue them. They're not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get dirty.
It's been reported time and time again that models are some of the most insecure women in the world. They live for compliments!
Even in our era there remains an element of old thought processes.
"If a woman is (beautiful) she can get a man to take care of her."
"If a man is (successful) he can have any woman he wants."
Plain women don't have the option of being taken care of by men and poor guys rarely end up with beautiful women.
