Do you believe that people who always tell the truth have an intelligence level which precludes
them from lying? Do you further contend that people who lie have a high intelligence level because they have the capacity to distort, or even fudge the truth?
No. Lying is a human survival trait.
Little children and the retarded will tell the truth, think about it, then hide dirty hands and say no, I didn't eat the cookies.
Adults may lie directly or give excuses that are lies in the skin of a reason. Greater intelligence only means more brain power to come up with better excuses or technicalities to make it OK.
"Your brain works harder when telling a lie and therefore there is more activity in the prefrontal cortex that can be seen with a functional MRI, or fMRI for short." - http://hub.me/a69vf
