What should parents & teachers DO to prepare children to be HIGHLY, even EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL
in postmodern, computerized 2lst century America? What type of parents are MOST LIKELY to have the prerequisite tools to have highly/ extremely successful children who will THRIVE in 21st century American society? What type of parents are LEAST LIKELY to have such tools?
Parents need to encourage their children to do well in school. In addition, they need to make sure their children will be able to support themselves once they graduate from high school, even if they're planning on going to college. They should help their kids get jobs while still at home, and teach them good money management skills.
Children who are least successful are those cursed to come from homes where the parents act as if they're doing them a favor by clothing and housing them (as if they asked to be born!), and are jealous of any success their children have.
Listen listen listen! Love, love, love! And if you are serious about parenting and leaving an amazing legacy to the world, give all the time you can possibly find, even if it involves self sacrifice. In most cases, we have them under our roof for only 18 years, and that goes in a flash! I know - my daughter is 18, she now lives 2000 kilometres away at university, and I cannot begin to explain how amazing she is and what a contribution she will make to the world.
There are millions of skilled labor jobs from CNC machining to nursing to mechanical repair that robots can't do, can't be outsourced and aren't something anyone walking in off the street could do all unfilled because we told millions of people just go to college, get a degree, any job, and we promise middle class jobs will materialize.
Trade schools and skilled labor jobs where you train on the job are wide open and are not made obsolete by AI or automation - which makes "dirty jobs" of Mike Rowe's fame the wave of the future.
Amen! A college degree is a TOOL, not a passport!
NOW, I have thought of another question. Your answers really INSPIRE me!
