How did the 1960s impact upon American society for better or worse? Why?
For better, it brought us British rock music and at least the baseline for civil rights.
Overall, I think the 60s did more harm than good. We began to lose some traditional style and manners that will never return. The Civil Rights Movement can be said to have worked in a legal sense. After MLK was killed, it took a wrong turn into disaster. For all the violence and protests against Vietnam in the later 60s, I can't say it made any difference on whether the war would continue or not.
