"Death" it "the inability to comprehend all things", as man is defined, therefore I supposing you mean discarnation, thus my answer is the following.
I can not see how existence would be meaningless if there was no discarnating, however, because of it every life-force within it has the privilege to experience every emotion within it, including learning what it is to be the life-force of the "Zeroverse", as I call it. They learn both of every possible giving and receiving scenario from one entity to another that ever happens within the Zeroverse called "karma" and "reapinig and sowing".
If you are looking at death as a period of transition, instead of physical death, then it would be where one enters from one unkown state into a new, known state of some kind. So we move from death to life through the transition of knowing. Okay..
