Colonization of Mars: Does it have to do with the end of Earth?

    All of a sudden, governments all over the world are trying to prepare Mars to be colonized by humans. Do you think this has to do with Earth coming to an end? If so, wouldn't this mean the government knows something is happening with the Earth?
