Eastenders Red Nose Day Special-Whitney Dean Prostitution
Do you think Eastenders were right to highlight these issues?
Lauren Branning begins to feel guilty for ignoring Whitney and leaves her a voicemail to say sorry.
Lauren believes that Whitney is with her brother Ryan as that is what Janine has been telling everyone. Later when Lauren asks Mo for Ryan's number, Mo tells her to ask Janine, but Janine has overheard their conversation and so hides to avoid Laurens questioning.
Not long after, Lauren gets a call from Whitney's phone but she cant answer it as her phone is frozen. Lauren finally tracks down Janine who gives her a fake number for Ryan but that is the least of their worries when a handy Fat Boy manages to fix Laurens phone and some guy using Whitney's phone has left Lauren an angry voicemail message.
In the message, he makes it clear that there will be trouble if she phones Whitney again.
A worried Lauren once again confronts Janine, leaving Janine with no choice but to admit that she has no idea of Whitney's whereabouts.
When Ricky discovers Whitney is missing and that Janine has been lying about her being with Ryan, he is livid. Carol and Max are soon thrown in to the row and Janine starts to feel incredibly guilty when they all gang up on her and remind her of Whitney's vulnerable state.
However Janine's guilt soon turns to anger, when she shouts at them that they all failed Whitney too. Ricky phones Ryan but when he says he hasn't seen sister Whitney for over three weeks everyone starts to panic.
Carol decides to pay Connor a visit, but he tells her that he hasn't heard from Whitney either. While there Connor makes a move on Carol but she slaps him, realising that she only got with him because she was grieving for Billie. This prompts Carol in to finally letting go, and she scatters Son Billie's ashes in the local park.
Back at the Butchers home, young Tiffany finds Whitney's diary and they all discover that she has met a guy called Rob who owns a club on Stratham Road.
Janine and Lauren decide to go searching for Whitney, but on their way to Stratham Road they have a big row and then end up going their separate ways.
Lauren is showing passers by a photo of Whitney, when she suddenly spots Whitney going into a nearby pub looking a former shadow of herself.
Lauren follows Whitney in to the pub and tells her how worried everyone has been, but Whitney looks desperate to get away from Lauren and rushes out of the pub. However Lauren is soon hot on her trail and follows her to the bedsit she has been staying at with Rob.
As the girls start chatting, it doesn't take long for Lauren to realise that Whitney is well and truly under Robs control, and when Whitney confesses that she has been sleeping with Rob's friends to get him out of debt, a horrified Lauren desperately tries to get Whitney to return home with her.
Unbeknown to the two girls, Rob has been hiding in the bedsit listening to their conversation. He suddenly appears and invites Lauren to a party with him and Whitney but Lauren declines and leaves the bedsit to phone Janine. When Janine turns up, Lauren explains what has been going on, but while the two girls are discussing the situation, evil Rob has bought a friend back to the bedsit and tells Whitney that she has to sleep with him as he owes him money.
Meanwhile a guilt ridden Janine has left Lauren in the nearby Café while she goes to get Whitney. However Rob spots Lauren in the Café and once again asks her to the party, but when Lauren repeats her refusal he turns nasty.
Over at the bedsit Janine is desperately trying to convince Whitney to come home with her, but Whitney is having none of it, telling Janine that Rob loves her.
Janine tells Whitney that Rob is just using her for the money she's making and that he is no better than Tony.
The mention of Tony strikes a chord in Whitney but just at that moment Rob reappears and throws Janine out of the bedsit and smashes up her phone for good measure. While Janine leaves to meet back up with Lauren, Whitney tells Rob that her family are all worried about her.
Rob knows that if Whitney goes back to her family they will make her see what he is doing is wrong, and so he tells Whitney to stop being ungrateful and demands she gets ready for the party he has organised.
Back at the Café, a desperate Lauren and Janine try phoning Whitney. But when she answers, an angry Rob walks through the door, prompting Whitney to hang up.
A worried Lauren and Janine rush over to the bedsit where Rob is forcing a scared Whitney into his car. The two girls can only stand helpless as they watch their friend being driven away.
Ricky Butcher will also find himself on the wrong side of the law when he desperately searches for his stepdaughter in a popular red light district. Ricky will be close to tears when he tries to convince the police that he is desperate to find Whitney. But will they believe him??
