Ponderings: On Energy

My Inspiration
In 2014, Jo_Goldsmith11 took it upon herself to initiate the Light2Love Project Good Words.
Jo pledged to use good words and publish articles used to empower, encourage, support and defend those who need to be shown love.
Jo offered us a good word for each week to focus our thoughts, behaviors and actions on...In the 4th week, Jo wrote her perspective on the word energy.
However, as 2014 came to an end, Jo filed away her Good Word articles - as she begins the process of publishing it in e-book'. Shyron E. Shenko continues to write a beautiful poem to accompany each Good Word to inspire and lead us.
The ripple effect of the Good Words Project throughout the HubVille community has been heartwarming.
Please join me with some of my musical thoughts and reflections on the word energy...
Energy in Music
Have you ever listened to music that made you jump to your feet and start dancing...??
Have you ever just sat in a chair and rocked your body to the rhythm of a song, tapping your feet, clapping your hands or clicking your fingers...
Are you of a predisposition to play air guitar or magical drums on your steering wheel when that song hits the radio?
I am clearly one of those people energized by music. With a song in my heart, I wake up and hit the ground running- usually no matter what kind of day I've had before.
It's easier to keep moving, whether around the house, walking or doing an aerobic activity with this ensemble of energetic lyrics and music that I have grown to love over the years as well.
This is a mere sampling, as any music lover can imagine ...♥ I got really excited about these song choices, very hard to narrow down actually. Rodrigo Y Gabriela are fairly new in my musical library, while I selected some classics for us baby boomers as well!
Are there any songs or lyrics that bring ENERGY and motivation to you...like these do for me? If so, please share YOURS in the comment section below... thanks, mar!
Energy in Lyrics
Don't you wanna dance (dance) with me baby? (1)... Put on your red shoes - And dance the blues (2)... We're going to party - Karamu, fiesta, forever - Come on and sing along! (3)... You got to breath and have some fun - Though I'm not paid I play this game - And I won't stop until I'm done (4)...

But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas (5)... Come over baby well, we got the bull by the horns - We ain't fakin' (6)... May your path be the sound - Of your feet upon the ground (7)... I get up, and nothing gets me down - You got it tough. I've seen the toughest around - And I know, baby, just how you feel - You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real (8)...
Van Halen: Jump
Lyrical Energy
Keep on with the force don't stop (9)... There's somethin' wrong with the world today - The light bulb's gettin dim - There's meltdown in the sky (10)... Buddy you're a young man hard man - Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day (11)... There comes a time when we heed a certain call - When the world must come together as one (12)...

to John Hansen (Jodah)
Passing the Baton of Energy
John Hansen (Jodah) is a writer I met through my good friend Shauna Bowling (bravewarrior).
In John's own words: "I like to call myself a poet, but that's up to the readers of my work to decide....Just trying to do my little bit to lessen my footprint on our precious Earth and hopefully encourage others to try to become as self-sufficient as possible."
If you've not had the opportunity, I have included some links below that highlight John's energy, diversity and talent as a writer. He has many others worth checking out as well...
And now I would like to pass the baton of the Project Good Words to you, John, with the word of energy.
Thanks ever so much, Maria

Comments
You epitomize ENERGY! I don't know how you keep up with your many activities, jobs, projects, etc. I didn't inherit that gene!
Maria, I love most music, and all that you have on here is great.
I tried to think of a song with energy and what came to mind is "High Cotton" being born in the south and picking cotton, I know the energy it takes and the energy it. When we would ride in the wagon loaded with cotton on the way to the gin, you could feel the warm energy, it is a feeling that cannot be explained away.
Blessings to you dear Maria
Love you!!!
Love your articles and this one got my eye immediately. Energy flows from music in amazing ways and touches the heart, through the tunes and the lyrics. Nowadays I am collecting positive songs, which is so uplifting and creates fun and happiness! Thank you for sharing!
"Have you ever listened to music that made you jump to your feet and start dancing...??" Yes, I sure have. You are so right about music stimulating us and giving us energy when we need it most. Yesterday I was sewing and noticed that when a peppy song came on the radio that my stitches went much faster. Jump on board the Love Train, and Soak Up The Sun (while it's still free) in the Love Shack. Another winning entry, friend. Voted way up.
Dear Maria, this is a beautiful testimonial to your energy and sharing the love!
I'm not someone who needs music all the time ; in fact quite often I like to be really quiet.
But I love to hear how it energises you for the day, every day. I think it's wonderful, and beautiful, just like you, my dear friend.
I second so many of the songs listed above and add songs like Guns and Roses "Welcome to the Jungle", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", Cyndi Lauper, "It's My Life", Bon Jovi, "Rock Around the Clock", Bill Haley and the Comets, "Twist and Shout", the Isley Brothers....I think you get the idea....any music that moves moves me. This beautiful hub moved me as well. There is no better coupling than energy and love and this hub is full of both!
Voted all but funny my friend, as there is so much wisdom here in your hub, in your comments, and the comments of others.
So many amazing songs that I am lucky some are on CD and many years old. I am surprised and grateful to have most of the collection to play anytime I need to "let loose", and just get the air in my lungs.
You really have done some research to find all of these songs! wow. :-)
Up, shared and tweeted. You are so cool! :-) blessings always....
By the way again - I wore bell bottoms, mini-skirts and go-go boots in the early 70s when I was in my early 40s -- looked danged good in 'em, too, even though I didn't have the lifestyle to match. haha
;-)
Thanks, Maria - and Jodah. Such kind words!
Do ya’ll remember Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration”? It’s one of my favorite energy songs. Loved to exercise and walk the track to it over the years. They rose to notice in the late 60s and blossomed in the 70s, but still have a following, though most of the original members are long-gone. The beat of this song inspires me to m-o-v-e. Not only is it energetic, but it also shares a positive message - Celebrate! I love that word, too! May I share the video? http://youtu.be/3GwjfUFyY6M
By the way, I just came from the doctor's where X-rays and examination revealed the good news that there is nothing fractured; - what a relief! Just a bad bruise to the ribs which should be healing in another couple of weeks. I'm usually quite unwilling to take Rx pain meds, but I'm happy to have gotten an Rx for one now, since none of the OTC stuff was helping (which I'm not keen on taking either, normally).
This tumble happened August 23rd, only 2 days after my darling Carla’s death, when I was anything but focused, obviously. Now I surely can use some energy-boosting music and there is always reason to celebrate, when one is alive and able to do one’s things and interact with one’s dear ones. I’m very blessed, of that I’m well aware! Thank you all for your well-wishes, prayers and understanding during these 'downer' moments.
I'm sitting here quietly and reading the wonderful comments :)
I do give Nellieanna most of the credit for my still being here on Hub Pages. I had been here for two years and only published three hubs, with about six comments between them. I had thought about leaving but decided to read a few other people's hubs first. Nellieanna's was one of them. I left a comment and said I wrote poetry and Nellieanna read my hubs in return and shared them and voila! I was suddenly part of this wonderful community and was inspired by the encouraging comments to write more. So, yes Nellieanna, you can claim me as "your Jodah". I am working on my hub on 'energy'...should be published in a couple of days. p.s. Get well soon Nellieanna
Sorry for the faux pas there, as to "too" in lieu of "to" ...
Love you, sweetest friend ... you are so beautiful ..., I hope you know!
Oh Maria you make me miss my friends who we hung out with on Saturday nights in Illinois at Saddle Creek Studio. I still keep in touch with Gene, the owner and he sent me some songs and I put them on Youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WszZp_DBFXQ&fea... (jut look for the boot with a silver chain and the guy on the steel guitar was my cousin)
And like Shauna I love just about anything by Lynyrd Skynyrd or Santana.
Music has always been a big part of my life.
Thank you Maria
Love/Peace/Blessings and hug yourself for me.
Love Shyron.
Wonderful, Maria! And your choice of John Hansen to receive the baton for this great word, Energy, is a perfect choice. I take a very personal interest in John because I feel I had a little bit to do with helping him get an active start on HP. I didn't need to do much, because he is a self-starter par excellence in every way, but he'd sort of run into a wall on here, it seemed. So I always consider him sort of "my Jodah". :-) Hope he doesn't mind my claiming that bit of help.
I KNOW he will take the baton and make it twirl!!
Forgive my brevity here. Now I'm nursing a bit of an injury to my side from a tumble I took in the yard about a week and a half ago. Sheesh. Enough, already.
Maria... You're my Hero of the day. Your wonderful hub is exactly what I needed to kick-start my lazy BUTT!!! Love & Peace, GF!
Great musical hub about 'energy' Maria. Great choice of music, the first song that came to mind for me was "Footloose"...I remember trying to dance to that many years ago...boy it took some energy. Thanks for passing me the paton Maria, I am honoured and hope I can do it justice.
Hugs.
My all-time favorite energy song is "What a Feeling" from Flashdance. Also love Footloose and Jump.
Nothing better than turning on energy music when it's time to do housework!
Hugs,
Gail
Are You Going My Way and Jump are two songs that have me shaking my money maker!! Great song choices. Also fabulous baton pass to Jodah aka John ;)
Hi Maria,
Talk about energy! Whew, I've had a three-day weekend of nothing but and so much joy, as all my grands love music. We have it on in the house all of the time. My oldest granddaughter has her own file of music on the computer and she insists that all the girls have a dancing party jamming out to her awesome tunes. She has great taste, even some from the 60s, 70s and on. She is always so excited to have me listen to a song, and is surprised when I already know all the words, as it is a song from the 60s LOL.
Music is the energy of life no doubt. When I have a mundane chore to do around the house, it is music that makes that chore fly by and actually enjoyable.
Thank you for the introduction too Rodrigo Y Gabriela! Amazing music and I thought I was going to sit here and get off my feet a bit. Oh, we must add Van Halen's Jump to my granddaughter's playlist LOL.
I appreciate your energy in sharing here of your vast music favorites that energize no doubt. I love that you have passed the baton of "Energy" on to John, as all of his poetry and hubs are full of energy due to his passion and love he has for writing. It is obvious in his writings. Awesome choice once again, sweet friend.
Up ++++ tweeting, pinning, G+ and sharing
Hugs
Wait up Mike, i'm puttn on my mini skirt and go go boots and we'll dance the afternoon away. I brought my bell bottoms along in case it gets chilly. Mar as you well know, I love to dance to all kinds of music. I especially love to disco dance to the sound of the Bee Gees and i loved the twist by Chubby Checker and last but not least, old time rock and roll with Bob Seger. Your musical selections are great! I'm on my way to watch Rodrigo Gabriela ( unknown to me. ) Jodah is one of my favorite poets. Cyber hugs my dear friend..
Well, hi mar, after listening to Lenny Kravitz, who needs blood thinners! I think I have the energy to mow the lawn. With the earphones in, Rodrigo Y Gabriela's music streamed right through me. What a treat to read your article about Energy on the Labor Day holiday. I think I'll go find my flamingo dancing outfit and dance the afteernoon away. lol
You passed the baton on to a good one, Maria. John is an exceptional writer and I have no doubt he will do a wonderful job. Having said that, I can't imagine my life without music. It is the sound of humanity, is it not?
Beautiful, just like the writer.
love,
bill
Music. I love it so…I need music; it is the energy of life, joy, love, reflection, dance and more. I have to share this with you and other hubbers, Maria. I recently babysat for my little granddaughter who is now 19 months old. She is so sweet and bright. At first, we were playing with her new toys for a little while, and then I turned on my stereo. Her face came alive and she said, “Ooooo!” Her body moved with the rhythms and chords progressions. I then realized…she needs it too. I played rock, jazz, classical…everything. We danced around the house; we laughed; we had such an amazing time. Your wonderful article personifies those precious days I spent with dear, sweet Charlee, and more. Thank you! (I wish I’d had Van Halen’s “Jump,” too! ) I love your choice of John (Jodah) for passing on this baton. Hugs, dear Maria. :-)
Great song choices, Mar. I love Van Halen, but David Lee Roth really is full of himself, isn't he?
I've never heard of Rodrigo Y Gabriela either, but they had me moving in my chair.
Another song that gets me up on my feet is Michael Jackson's Beat It. Just can't help myself! Also, just about anything by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Charlie Daniels and the list goes on.
Can't wait to see what John comes up with. He's a talented writer with many surprises up his sleeve.
There are sooooo many songs that will instantly inspire me to dance...
Where shall I begin?
Those songs of the 60's .... Twist and shout, do the twist.... 70's - Travelling Band (CCR)....
Ohhhhh, I will sit here the entire night making my list...
Let's just stick to Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress....

Awesome, energizing hub! Thanks, Mar. Looking forward to read Jodah running with the baton of Energy....
