South Carolina Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A South Carolina man, twenty-seven-year-old, Devan Chavis Bennett is currently an inmate at the Oconee County Detention Center, in Walhalla, South Carolina. He is charged with four charges: Probation violation, possession of a weapon during a crime, and two counts of attempted murder. He was arrested, by the Oconee County Sheriff Department, on March 30, 2020.
Bennett shot a woman in Oconee County, South Carolina and also fired at a man which is why he’s facing two attempted murder charge.
Bennett was picked up by the Toccoa Police Departmen, in Stephens County, Georgia, near the Toccoa Airport around 7:30PM on March 26, 2020.
The extradition process to bring Bennett back to South Carolina begin on the very next day following his arrest in Georgia and he was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center three days later.
On March 27, 2020, Bennett’s mother, Regina Leigh Mote, age 47, and his stepfather Timothy Wayne Rogers, also age 47, were arrested in Georgia. They are accused of aiding and abetting Bennett even though they knew he was wanted for attempted murder in South Carolina.
