The 10 best winter (non Christmas) songs ever.
Its winter wonderland time!
Winter is upon us!
I have written many pieces about Christmas Carols and thought it would be fun to do a list of just Winter songs. There really isn't much positive about the winter, other than the music!
Here they are, enjoy!
The legend lives on!
Here are my favorite 12.
12.Sleigh Ride, Mannheim Steamroller- I have heard this so many times that I find the lyrics annoying! But I did make a list of 12 so here it is.
Just hear those sleigh bells jingling,
Ring-ting-tingling too,
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you,
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling, "Yoo hoo",
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you.
Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up,
Let's go...let's look at the show,
11. Cold Rain and Snow, The Grateful Dead- They did a fun one for this season as well. The Grateful Dead always seem to turn up on the music scene even though Jerry is gone.
10.Harry Nilsson, Snow-
A low key, sentimental tune like this one, is just what some winter nights need! Billy Joel should have remade this one.
9. Winter Love, The Doors- Jim and company do another odd love song that is so hard not to listen to.
8. Its Marshmallow World in the winter, Dean Martin- This one is a goofy, let's feel good about winter, song. As with everything else, Dean nailed this one.
7. Susie Snowflake, Rosemary Clooney- Rosemary did this for the cartoon special that never really took off. The song was cute for little kids, and still is.
6. Winter Song, The Screaming Trees-
I love these wild head bangers from Seattle, and this hit was one of the many reasons why.
The five frozen favorites!
5.Let it snow- The weather outside is frightful but the fire... you get it I am sure. I am usually sick of this one by desert time...on Thanksgiving! But it has it's fan base for sure.
4. Jingle Bells- This was originally a Thanksgiving song that is now considered a Christmas Carol. I don't know how that happened, but kids love it and many of the parodies.
3. Baby its cold outside- Dean Martin comes back with Martina McBride with this favorite. Most people love this one that tells a story and paints a picture as well.
2. Frosty the Snowman- This of course was based on the popular cartoon and was sang by Jimmy Durante of all people. I loved this song and T.V. special growing up.
1. Winter Wonderland- Sleigh bells ring... This is a favorite of many people of all ages. It paints a great picture of a wonderful night.
