Terra Nova; Genesis

Tonight is a highly anticipated two hour premiere of the FOX television show Terra Nova. I have described this show as the Swiss Family Robinson in the Land of the Lost. But it is so much more because it is a science fiction series.

Terra Nova is about a family who lives on Earth and Earth is dying so they must go back in time to 85 million dollars to rebuild the civilization of Earth which they consider paradise. But with all places called paradise there are always imminent dangers. It is a very hostile environment between the dinosaurs and the power struggles.

In Summa Theologia by Thomas Acquinas we are taught that you can't live in the past, present and future. But Terra Nova attempts this very feat and there within must lie the tradegy.

Review

The Shannon family at the dawn of the 22 century have violated population control and had a third child and therefore the husband, Jim, is imprisoned. Elizabeth Shannon is offered a job on Terra Nova and is only allowed to bring her two legal children. But she arranges to break Jim out of incarceration to carry their third child, Zoe, with them 85 million years in the past for a new beginning at Terra Nova.

Living 85 million years in the past does represent challenges especially when everyone has an adjustment disorder as case of the Shannon family. The Shannon Family quickly realizes there is another population of Terra Nova called the 6 ers. They seem to be almost a Pythagoras cult. There agenda is not clearly understood and they seem to be hostiles.

The Carnivorous Dinosaurs seem to be more of a problem than the 6 ers.

At the endwe find out that Taylor's son is a 6 er who is attempting to solve how to change the time line and therefore control the future from the past. So it looks like quantum physics will be apart of this show this season. There is something for everyone.

This show is excellent. It has a big movie feel with absolutely beautiful sets and the CGI. There are exhilarating action sequences which thrilled my son. The acting is superb and the writing is exceptional. Of all the series I have reviewed this is the best family show.

      Hi Maralexa,

I agree with your assesment of the writing on Terra Nova as well. I wouldn't have necessarily watched it but I have son who loves dinosaurs. But Terra Nova really had something for everyone.

I am so glad you had the opportunity to see Terra Nova. Time is such a precious commodity for us all so if I can expediate my audience to worth while television shows then I have accomplished my job.

And I think this series has the ever real potential to be an award winning series this Fall Season.

Thanks for reading, commenting, providing feedback and following up and actually seeing the show. I am glad you witnessed this new terrifc series that I think may set a new standard for all television series.

      Thanks, JT.

Agreed, good potential series. I thought good acting and good plot development. Really great visuals and good 'mini' stories have started. I really enjoyed it and will watch again next week.

I saw your hub a few days ago and just couldn't get back to it in time to read it before Terra Nova came on just yesterday. But because I had seen your hub I watched the show. I'm not sure I would have done so otherwise.

I liked the show for many of the reasons you mention in your hub. Thank you very much for your alert.
